The BufferBins

The BufferBins captures the way you create "temporary bins" — a small pile of objects on a chair, a corner of the table reserved for items to move later, or a staging spot for things that aren't ready to be put away yet. Each entry becomes a buffer card, a pill-shaped label showing bin purpose, object variety, urgency and the visual clutter level. The interface uses floating capsule shapes that gently hover like temporary placeholders. A buffer entry includes marking bin purpose (move later / sort soon / unsure spot / temporary home), tagging object variety (low / mixed / high), noting clutter level, writing the short story of why the bin formed, adding a motivation tag, and specifying the location. The Statistics screen provides insights into your buffer patterns, showing which locations accumulate the most clutter, purpose breakdowns, and urgency analysis. A Natural Fade detection system highlights bins that may dissolve naturally when they have minimal clutter, low urgency, and have existed for over a week, helping you identify low-effort wins.
